Candy Free

I am happy to report that my new year's resolution is still marching along.  I have yet to eat any candy for the year, the first two months were really difficult, but except a few days it has gotten a lot easier.  Don't get me wrong there are times that I do want to eat candy.  I just wanted to update everyone on this little success of mine.

One month down

Well, I have not been very successful this month on turning off the tv at nine but I have been successful in exercising. I am trying to do more cross training doing yoga one day, lifting weights one day, and walking 5-8 miles one day. The yoga and weight is at the gym with a class so I know I am working hard. Walking with jill is tough, we faced the cold weather last week and walked in freezing windy weather. It was the coldest we have ever walked and we walked 8 miles.
My goals for february is to try and work two days a week which I have been doing and get my resume up and running for the next school year. I am going to go for one more year.
I am not giving up just readjusting and going forward.

Slowly but Surely...

Well, I was working out and need to hop back on the horse. So, my goal this week is to do that. As far as picture taking goes... I am dominating this goal but need to find the time to finish posting them on my photography blog. www.lifeintime.blogspot.com I have gotten some really cool shots that I have yet to post. (let me know what you guys think thus far). I am doing a lot better with my scripture reading and am on top of all of my Spring classes so far. Gotta run the twins just woke up.

Love you all; great idea Tiff with the jar and sticks for the girls. That is such a fun way to pick a chore. Good job on working out too, you are definitely doing a lot better than I am so far. Way to go.

Progression

My two major goals that have been on my mind this past week was to start out strong with exercising and figure out a plan of action for enlisting my kids in helping with chores. I managed to go for a walk 2 times this week with the kids. This week I will try to improve on that and make it 3 times. Also, I have done much better with chores. This method of letting the kids pick their chore from the jar has been helpful. Now I have to remember to do it more often.

Conquering 2011

This is my first blog post ever. How odd to write to my family through cyberspace!

I've loved reading your goals and now its my turn to contribute. I have to admit I have been a little nervous about putting my goals out there for everyone to read - but reading yours has me motivated. I'm hoping you guys will keep me on my toes from afar.

2011 Goals:
1. Get back into 'fighting' shape: Its time to lose the baby weight and get back into the physical shape I like to be in. Two ways I am going to accomplish this: exercising 5 times per week and getting 4 servings of fruits or vegetables a day. On New Year's Eve, I signed up for the Madison Half-Marathon on May 29th. I am going to run the entire thing and I have a goal time of under two hours. To be honest, I would really like to get in at 1:45 but we'll see... My training schedule starts in March; so I am going to work on getting into shape for January and February. I have also signed up for a pilates course around the block from my house two nights a week. I will keep you updated.

2. More patience:
I have been working on this for the past couple weeks since I finished the book. Mainly, this will benefit Eric. Probably people at work will enjoy this as well. Its a tough one and I am still figuring out how to conquer it.

3. Be more generous:
I really enjoyed this chapter and I think it can apply to me. I can be stingy with time, money and opening myself up to others. Also, still figuring out how to do this one but I am thinking about it.

4. Documenting our new family:
This goal started with the birth of Robert and my birthday present from Eric (a new camera!) I've been doing a pretty good job and was able to pull together a hardback photo book of 201o for Eric's Christmas present. For 2011, I plan to journal and document Robert's early days 5 times per week. I haven't journaled since I was a kid but I am already enjoying it. My second goal in this area is to create a photobook of my relationship with Eric to go along with his Christmas present. Many more photos and years to include in this book so its going to be a lot more work.

No more resolutions for now. That looks like a lot to work on!

2011

This year is going to be great.  I am not as good of a writer as everyone below, so here is my bulleted list:

 - Exercise five times a week in preparation for the upcoming Triathlons.  My goal is to establish a rank among all U.S. Triathletes, maybe in a couple of years, just maybe, I might want to qualify for the US team.

- Keep my mind active, less craigslist and hulu, and more book time or other stimulating activities.  So far these past couple of weeks I have read four books, and today I started reading Freakonomics, Dad you would like this one.  This goal will be much easier to accomplish since my school starts in two weeks.

- Go to bed 30-60 minutes earlier.

 - No candy (by the way this is for the whole year).

I will report back in a couple of weeks.

I must say this is a great idea family.

Erin and Her Goals for January

I always become over ambitious every year with goal setting and upon reading part of the Happiness Project I really like the idea of adding a new goal or set of goals each month. So, my goals for January are as follows:

-Pray and Read Scriptures everyday (I was just asked to teach a class on this particular subject for Enrichment in February so I have a whole month to get into the habit. :)

-Exercise Three times a week (we can help remind each other Tiff :)

-Take a picture of something everyday this month so I can become a better photographer.

-Obtain the grade of A for my Medical Anthropology course this winter session. (almost forgot about this very important goal :)
